SERVICE UTILIZATION SURVEY RESULTS

As part of the Integration Study a survey on service utilization was sent to families of young children with special needs. Our purpose was to:

  • learn more about the services that these families actually received
  • determine how they accessed needed services
  • identify any problems or concerns related to their use of services.

Parents of young children who were receiving services from four specialty centres in our study regions participated in this survey. The specialty centres were:

  • Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta
  • Child and Adolescent Services Association (CASA) in Edmonton, Alberta
  • R.E.A.C.H. (Resource, Education And Counselling Help) in Haldimand-Norfolk, Ontario
  • Chedoke Child and Family Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.

Surveys were sent out to each family who had received services in one of the participating clinics between October 1, 2000 and October 1, 2002 and whose child was born after October 1, 1996.

We would like to thank all the families who completed the surveys and the clinic staff who sent out the surveys.
