Province-wide Initiative 'Maps' Child Development
Education research project focuses on the early years

Edmonton... A new province-wide, five-year research project will examine factors influencing healthy childhood development. The Early Child Development (ECD) Mapping Initiative will give the Alberta government a better understanding of the relationships between children's development and the support and resources available in their communities.
"A child's early experiences set the foundation for her/his success in school and in life," said Minister of Education Dave Hancock.
"By understanding what influences healthy child development, government, families and communities can work together to ensure our young children are provided with the right kinds of experiences to support positive preschool development."
