4.6 Pre-test questionnaires
- a ‘practice run’ using
a few people similar to informants in language,
culture and education
- before pre-test, practise coding
and recording data
by preparing a dummy table of information
to ensure neither gaps nor unnecessary questions.

- watch for any hesitation
and ask about the respondent’s
reaction
- after pre-test,
discuss the informant’s interpretation
of questions to resolve possible misunderstanding
